About Me

My name is Mike Smith. I was raised in a family involved in real estate. My father has been a real estate broker since the early 60's. As a kid I helped clean, paint and manage rental units and have experienced my fair share of moves during my life time.  I have lived and experienced the industry from all different aspects,  I am also an investor in real estate.

I am a father of three children that I adore and spend much time as possible with. While they were growing up they were very active in their different interests such as fishing, sports and showing their 4H animals. We all love the outdoors especially if we are yachting in the San Juan's or Canadian Gulf Islands. If it involves water you would find us there! We spend our free time camping, boating, fishing, white water rafting, flying kites at the coast, hiking, walking and many other family activities.

Now my kids are 26 to 31 and have families of their own and I am able to enjoy my 2 grandchildren and a third one is on her way, they are so much fun. My interests have not changed much I still do a lot of gardening, playing poker, and enjoying the beautiful summer days riding on my Honda road bike.

When I began in real estate in 1987, I was trained to do business the traditional transactional way most Real Estate Companies operate (Work your deals as a numbers game, the more deals you do the more money you make, just keep rolling forward). After many years of the churn and burn mentality I realized that even though I provided my clients with great deals and worked very hard for them, they seemed to be less than pleased with the overall service they received. This concept was a great way to make a lot of money, but it left me feeling very unfilled by my work because my customers were not as satisfied as they could have been.

It was not until I realized that this is a people business, not a deal business, did my business and level of service really start to matter to me. I have spent many years educating myself in all aspects of real estate and am considered to be very knowledgeable in the area of real estate. Now it was time to build and implement the systems necessary to provide a level of service to my clients that would make them then want to continue to do business with me for other reasons other than just good deals, and refer their friends, family and co-workers. (If I were a doctor one could say I needed to change my bedside manner.)

I realized that I derive pleasure from helping my clients obtain financial security through real estate investing. I just needed to focus a little more energy in the following areas to provide an exceptional service to my clients:

  • Take a little more time educating my clients about real estate and the current real estate market.
  • Focus more on the clients personal and property needs; what are their expectations from a specific property and/or a Broker? Will the property and /or the Broker meet their expectations?
  • Continue to always make sure that my client's interests are protected in their real estate dealings.
  • Educate clients as to my way of doing business to make sure they know what to expect, and never promise a client more than they can realistically expect in the current market place or from my Services.
  • Create a platform for good communication with my clients and focus on unsurpassed customer service, being that both are vital to the success of each transaction.
  • Don't just tell your clients, but show them that every detail to their specific transaction will be meticulously handled.  Continually stay on top of this ever-changing industry so that my clients will receive reliable, up to date information, and so that they can make solid financial decisions.
  • The way real estate is done today is changing rapidly due to new technology. By changing with the times my clients are better served.

I am committed to providing my clients with a level of service I would also expect and deserve for myself. By providing this level of service, I now receive personal satisfaction by knowing I have satisfied clients while building lifelong relationships with my clients, their friends, family and co-workers.

Being a Real Estate Salesperson was not personally rewarding, but as a Real Estate Consultant and Advisor, my clients and I are both fulfilled!
